I am the widow of Luis Eduardo Torres, known to his loved ones as Eddie Torres. Eddie died at age 31 on September 11, 2001, at the World Trade Center, North Tower, on his second day of work at Cantor Fitzgerald. At the time, I was seven and a half months pregnant with our son Josh, who was born in October, 2001.
We rode the subway home from our wedding.
I wrote through my grief. I kept journals and published personal essays on Salon.com and in other publications.
In September 2008, I published my graphic novel memoir, American Widow with art by Sungyoon Choi.
I live in New York City with my family.
